What a Saudi laboratory is licensed and inspected against
A private general or specialised laboratory is licensed by the Ministry of Health through the SEHA platform, and the licence is issued only after the site is physically inspected and the required equipment and medical cadres are in place. In vitro diagnostic reagents and analyzers need Saudi Food and Drug Authority marketing authorisation before use. On the billing side, every tax invoice falls under ZATCA’s e-invoicing regulation, VAT is charged at 15%, and private insurers and their providers exchange claims through the nphies platform run by the Council of Health Insurance.
The Ministry of Health issues a laboratory licence only after the facility site is inspected and all required equipment and medical cadres are provided, within seven working days of a complete file, with the classification of every medical cadre attached.
