1. SamLab is software, not a medical device
SamLab is laboratory information and management software. It records, calculates, formats and transmits data that your laboratory produces. It is not a diagnostic device, it does not perform any assay, and it is not registered or certified as a medical device in any jurisdiction.
2. No interpretation, no medical advice
SamLab does not interpret results and does not offer medical advice. Reference ranges, flags, calculated values and any AI-assisted explanation are conveniences that present your own configured data — they are not a clinical opinion, and they must never be used as one.
3. A qualified professional must verify every result
Every report must be reviewed and authorised by a qualified pathologist, or another professional competent under the law of your jurisdiction, before it is released to a patient or a referring doctor. Responsibility for the correctness of a released report rests with your laboratory and that professional, and never with the software.
This mirrors clause 9 of the End User Licence Agreement you accepted when installing SamLab, and clause 9 of our Terms & Conditions.
4. Analyzer and instrument data
Where SamLab reads results from an analyzer, it reports what the instrument sent. It does not validate calibration, quality control or specimen integrity. Instrument maintenance, calibration and QC remain entirely your laboratory’s responsibility.
5. Accreditation and regulatory outcomes
SamLab is built to support accredited working, but no software can deliver an accreditation. We make no representation that using SamLab will result in any particular accreditation, licence or inspection outcome.
6. Availability and backups
SamLab is offline-first: it runs on your own machines and your data lives there. Keeping working backups of your own installation is your responsibility. Where you have enabled a cloud feature, our obligations for it are set out in our Terms & Conditions and our Data Processing Addendum.
7. Website content
Information on this website is provided for general information about the product. It is not clinical, legal or tax advice, and it may be updated at any time.
